Short Description
I will also shake up all the nations and (Khemdah) will come to all nations. Then I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the Lord of the hosts..jpg)
“I will also shake up all the nations and (Khemdah) will come to all nations. Then I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the Lord of the hosts. ‘The silver and gold will be mine,’ says the Lord of the hosts. ‘The future splendor of this temple will be greater than that of former times,’ the Lord of the hosts declares, ‘and in this place I will give (Shalom).’”[1]
Both Jewish and Christian commentators gave the greatest importance to the double promise in the prophecy mentioned above. They understand the word “Khemdah” as a Judeo-Christian prophecy. Should the words “Khemdah” and “Shalom” be understood in the merely abstract meaning of desire and peace, this would be nothing more than obscure and meaningless hopes and wishes. But if “Khemdah” is construed to refer to a real personality and “Shalom” to a divinely revealed religion and an efficient power, the prophecy would be true in the person of Ahmad and the religion of Islam. This is simply because both “Khemdah” and “Shalom” accurately indicate to “Ahmad” and “Islam”.[2]
According to ‘Abd-Al-Ahad Dâwûd[3], the roots of both “Khemdah” and “Shalom” clearly indicate to the glad tidings given by the Torah of Muhammad [peace be upon him] and Islam. “Khemdah”, derived from the old Hebrew or Aramaic “Hemed”, stands for the great desire wished by the people. In Arabic, the verb “Hamida”, derived from the same root, gives the meaning of praise.
