On the importance of being knowledgeable about history and comprehending its lessons especially the momentous case of Palestine, Dr. Ragheb Elsergany mentioned that Allah's instructions in the glorious Quran on taking lessons from history is not for once, but repeated several times. He adds; almost one third of the Quran relates the stories of the former ancestors, prophets and previous nation's history.
Frequently, the Prophet Muhammad related to his companions the stories of the ancestors, in wording: (In a nation before you …) relating a story of sense relevant to the realty they encounter.
Dr. Ragheb Elsergany clarified that studying the story of Palestine implies studying the history of all humanity and civilizations, since the ancient civilizations focused on Palestine and tried to influence it.
Then, Dr. Ragheb explored the history of Palestine and Jerusalem through the ancient civilizations till the time if Muslim opening in the era of `Umar ibn Al- Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him). Dr. Ragheb reminded of the fact that 8000 years ago before Christ, the oldest human congregation throughout history was in Palestine in Jericho City.
