Birth of John Kennedy

29th of Shaaban Year 1337 AH/ May 29th, 1917 AD: Birth of American president John Kennedy in the city of Los Angeles. His term in office witnessed a showdown with the USSR in 1962, the most serious crisis of its kind in the international politics which could evolve into a nuclear war. Kennedy was assassinated on June 5th, 1968 .
 

Battle of Somme Breaks out

29th of Shaaban Year 1334 AH/ July 1st, 1916 AD: The Battle of the Somme breaks out between the joint French- British army forces and the German forces on both banks of the River Al Somme west northern of France. This battle continued until late November 1916, and is regarded as one of the major battles in the First World War.
   

Birth of Ahmed Pasha Kamal

29th of Shaaban Year 1267 AH/ June 29th, 1851 AD: Birth of noted scholar Ahmed Kamal Ibn Hassan Ibn Ahmed, alias Ahmed Pasha Kamal. He took lead in the monumental studies in the Arab world, and the author of the encyclopedic volume, " Dictionary of Ancient Egyptian Language", in which he proved a connection between the ancient Egyptian language and the Semitic languages especially Arabic.

 

Al Liwa Newspaper Released

29th of Shaaban Year 1371 AH/ January2nd, 1900 AD: Publishing of Al Liwa newspaper the mouthpiece of the National Party which was headed by Egyptian national leader Mustafa Kamel. Published six years before the birth of the National Party, the newspaper launched a fierce campaign against the British occupation and sympathized with the caliphate in Turkey. But it was gagged by the authorities on 31-8-1912.
   

Death of Muslim scholar Zofar Ibn Al Huzail

30th of Shaaban 158 AH / July 7, 775 AD: Death of Muslim scholar Zofar Ibn Al Huzail, one of the disciples of Imam Abu Hanifa al Noman and a prominent scholar in the Hanafi madhab. He was also such an authority in Islamic Fiqh that he succeeded his mentor Abu Hanifa in his religious class, and one of those who played a key part in promoting for the Hanafi madhab throughout the Muslim world.

 

Death of Ibn Al Naqeeb

30th of Shaaban Year 415 AH/ November 10th, 1024 AD: Death of Abul Kassem Obaidellah Ibn Abdullah Ibn Al Hussein Al Khaffaf, alias Ibn Al Naqeeb. He was one of the prominent ulema of Sunna in the fifth hegira century. He was born in 305 AH and was a contemporary to numerous Abbasid caliphs including Al Muktader, Al Taher, Al Radhy, Al Mottaki, Al Mostakfy, Al Moteea, Al Tae and Al Ghaleb Billah. He died at an age of 110 years.
