Briton Woods Conference Held

Birth of Suleiman el Kannony

1^st of Shaaban 900 AH/ April 27^th , 1495 AD: Birth of Ottoman Sultan Suleiman el Kannony, the tenth sultan in the Ottoman dynasty. His reign was known as the most prosperous one in the Ottoman state history, with the state then outreaching vast areas worldwide and prospering arts and architecture. His period of rule was 46 lunar years. He died in 974 AH/ 1566 AD.

Edison Invents the Phonograph

2^nd of Shaaban 1294 AH/ August 12^th 1877 AD: Thomas Edison invented the phonograph and made the first sound recording.

Coup in North Yemen

2^nd of Shaaban 1387 AH/ November 5^th, 1967 AD: A coup in North Yemen overthrows Field Marshal Abdullah al Sallal during his visit to Baghdad. After the coup, a council of three figures was established to run the country's affairs. It is known that Sallal' s government received military aid from the government of President Gamal Abdul Nasser.

John Kennedy Assumes Presidency

2^nd of Shaaban 1380AH/ January 20^th, 1961 AD: John Kennedy assumes presidency in the US, becoming the 35th president of the United States. He was born in 1917 and engaged in journalism and politics. He was elected member of both the House of Representatives and Senate. He was assassinated in 1963 at the hand of Lee Oswald during Kennedy's visit to Texas. He was succeeded by his vice president Linden Johnson.

USSR Invades East of Poland

2^nd of Shaaban 1358 AH/ September 17^th, 1939 AD: The Soviet forces invade east of Poland and seize the Polish territories which the Germans had left during the Second World War. It is noteworthy that the German forces had earlier in September 1939 invaded Poland which failed to resist the German invasion.

Third Britain-Afghanistan War

2^nd of Shaaban 1337 AH/ May 3^rd, 1919 AD: Outbreak of the third war between Britain and Afghanistan due to the failure of the Indian British government to recognize the independence of Afghanistan. The war ended in August 1919 with recognition of the Afghani people's impendence.

Ottomans declares War on Germany

2^nd of Shaaban 1093 AH/ August 6^th, 1682 AD: The Ottoman State declares war on Germany after 18 years of Fashfar reconciliatory agreement which the two sides had concluded.

Death of Abu Abdullah Al Motaz

2^nd of Shaaban 255 AH/ July 16^th, 868: Death of Caliph Abu Abdullah Al Motaz Ibn al Mutawakel Ibn al Mostassem, the thirteenth caliph in the chain of the Abbasid dynasty. He assumed caliphate in 252 AH and remained in power for three and a half years to eventually be succeeded by Al Mohtady Billah.

Birth of Abdullah Ibn Az- Zubair

2^nd of Shaaban 2 AH/ January 29^th, 624 AD: Birth of honorable Sahabi Abdullah Ibn Az- Zubair, the first newborn in Islam. He was brought up in a noble and honorable home with knowledge and wisdom. His father is honorable Sahabi Az- Zubair Ibn el Awwam, his mother is Amaa the daughter of Abu Bakr Asseddeek, his maternal aunt is the Mother of the Believers Lady Aisha. He was well known for bravery. He established himself a caliph after the death of Muaweya Ibn Yazeed in 64 AD.

Death of Abul Kalam Azad

French citizenship for Tunisians

Inauguration of Egyptian Museum

3^rd of Shaaban 1319 AH/ November 15^th, 1901 AD: Inauguration of Cairo – based Egyptian Museum. It is regarded as the most important Egyptian museums which embrace the ancient Egyptian monuments including the Tut Ankh Amun. This museum was set up at an area of 13600 square meters and was designed by French architect Marcel Dornion .

France Imposes the La Marsa Treaty

Death of Napoleon Bonaparte

3^rd of Shaaban 1236 AH/ May 5^th, 1821 AD : Death of known French leader Napoleon Bonaparte in his exile in Saint Helena. Napoleon was born on August 15th , 1769 in the Italian Island of Corsica. He achieved numerous victories in his wars in Europe. He was elected emperor of France on May 8th 1804. He died after suffering from cancer in his stomach, and then he was buried in The Dome Church in Paris.
