Allah, Almighty, has created people with varied physical, mental and emotional abilities. This variance in people’s nature and achievements is due to variance in the strength of their will and determination as well as clarity of their objectives and aspirations. The family plays an important role in strengthening the individuals’ will.

Fasting six days of Shawal

The companion Ayyub ( May Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) said, “Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days from Shawwal it is as if they fasted the entire year.” [Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah; Ahmad transmitted it from Jabir, Muntaqa].

Just another holy fasting month?

Ramadan is that special gift of Allah which allows all of us to return to Him, whether we have been Muslim for fifty years or for five minutes. It is a time when we can honestly take a look at how we have been living our lives over the last year, and resolve to improve and be better Muslims in the year ahead.

Eid Al-Fitr

EID-UL-FITR is celebrated on the first day of Shaw'waal, at the completion of Ramadan. Shaw'waal is the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. The Eid-al-Fitr is a very joyous day; it is a true Thanksgiving Day for the believing men and women.

Fasting in Islam

Fasting the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars upon which the structure of Islam is built. The other four are the declaration of one's belief in God's oneness and in the message of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), regular attendance to Prayers, payment of zakah (obligatory charity), and the pilgrimage.

Zakat al Fitr

Zakat al Fitr is an obligatory charity on every Muslim at the end of the month of Ramadan. Ibn `Umar said: "The Prophet, sallaallahu `alayhe wa sallam, enjoined the payment of one Sa'a of dates or one Sa'a of barley as Zakat al-Fitr on every Muslim, young and old, male and female, free and slave." (Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

The gates of virtue during Ramadan

Beloved Muslims! The month of Ramadan is the month of virtue and righteousness. Due to the virtue of its period, the deeds performed during it are also treated differently.

The Last Ten Nights of Ramadan

Aa’ishah, may Allaah be pleased with her, reported: “When the last ten days of Ramadhaan came, the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam would stay up all night, wake his family and gird his loins”. [Al-Bukhaari & Muslim].

The Night of Al-Qadr

Allah , Most High, Says (what means): "Indeed, We sent it [i.e. the Qur’an] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what the Night of Decree is? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit [i.e. Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn." [Quran: 97: 1-5].

Abu Bakrah may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa salam, said: “Two months of ‘Eed are not incomplete: the months of Ramadhaan and Thul-Hijjah.” According to another version: “Two months of ‘Eed are not shorter [than normal]: Ramadhaan and Thul-Hijjah.” [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim].

Offering fasting people food to break their fast

The Prophet said: “Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast will have a reward like his without decreasing his reward in the slightest way.”
