Birth of Shakaib Arslan
1st of Ramadan 1286 AH/ December 25th, 1869 AD: Shakib Arslan (1869–1946) was born. He was a Druze prince (amir) from Lebanon who was known as Amir Al-Bayan (Arabic for "Prince of Eloquence"). He was the first to call to Arab unity and to the establishment of the Arab League. He was a pioneer reformist and national liberty struggler against imperialism, a cause on which he wrote many articles, treatises and discourses. He is the author of Al-Hulal Al-Sundusiyyah and Tarikh Ghazawat Al-Arab.

Treaty of Joint Defense signed
2nd of Ramadan 1369 AH/ June 17th, 1950 AD: the Treaty of Joint Defense was signed between Arab countries members in the Arab League. the treaty includes provision relating to peacefully settling disputes between member countries and other provisions relating to jointly confronting any armed aggression against any member country. However, the treaty has never been put into force since signed.
Battle of Marj Al-Suffar Breaks out
2nd of Ramadan 702 AH/ April 20th, 1303 AD: the Battle of Marj Al-Suffar took place between the Mamluks led by Al-Nassir Qalawun and the Mongols led by Qutlugh-Shah near Kiswe, Syria, just south of Damascus. the battle ended up wisupth a disastrous defeat for the Mongols On being informed of the defeat, Ghazan Khan became wild with rage resulting in his death.
The Battle of Tours Fought
2nd of Ramadan 114 AH/ October 26th, 732 AD: The Battle of Tours, in Arabic "Balaá¹ Al-Shuhada'" (Court of The Martyrs), was fought in an area between the French cities of Poitiers and Tours. The battle that pitted Frankish forces under Charles Martel against an army of Muslims led by Abdul-Rahman Al-Ghafiqi lasted for ten days beginning from the last days of Shaabn. However, the battle ended with none of both parties victorious. Anyway, Muslims withdrew their forces at night.
Stephen Biko Arrested for Antiapartheid
3rd of Ramadan 1397 AH/ August 18th 1977 AD: South African black leader Stephen Biko is arrested for his antiapartheid activities. Within a month, he will die from a police beating while in custody.
Birth of Mary 'Abduh
3rd of Ramadan 1305 AH/ May 14th, 1888 AD: Birth of Mary 'Abduh owner of Al-'Arus monthly magazine. She was a pioneer female Syrian journalist, who issued Al-'Arus monthly magazine to be the first Syrian feminist magazine. Moreover, she translated some foreign books. She died in December 1965 AD.
Death of 'Ajjaj Nuwayhid
3rd of Ramadan 1305 AH/ May 13th, 1888 AD: Death of great Lebanese historian 'Ajjaj Nuwayhid, a prominent figure in the field of historical studies. He translated Hadir Al-'Alam Al-Islami, Arabic translation of Lothrop Stoddard's The New World of Islam, to which Shakib Arslan added as great addition as the size of the original book.
Slavery Legally Ended in Brazil
3rd of Ramadan 1305 AH/ May 13th, 1888 AD: Slavery was legally ended nationwide in Brazil. Brazil was discovered in 1500 AD by the Portuguese seaman Pedro Álvares Cabral. Later, the Portuguese settled there in large numbers, annihilated native inhabitants and began to bring slaves from Africa in 1550. In 1888, slavery was ended and the Republic of Brazil was announced in the next year.
Death of Ibn Al-Mu'allim
3rd of Ramadan 413 AH/ December 1st, 1022 AD: Death of Abu 'Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Ibn Al-Nu'man known as Al-Shaykh Al-Mufid and Ibn Al-Mu'allim for his expertise in philosophical theology. He was an eminent Twelver Shi'a theologian and a founder of a school of thought followed by most Shia scholars.

3rd of Ramadan 65 AH/ November 14th, 683 AD: Death of Marwan Ibn Al-Hakam, the founder of the second Umayyad Dynasty. He made many cultural contributions such as adjusting measures. He died in Damascus in 65 AH.
