12th of Dhul-Hijjah 1394 AH/ December 27th 1974 AD: Death of Ahmad Ismail Ali. He was the Commander-in-Chief of Egypt's army and minister of war during the October War. He is best known for his planning of the attack across the Suez Canal that surprised Israel on October 6. He was made Army Chief of Staff in March 1969. He also he served as head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate.
