Death of Saudi writer and novelist Abdul Rahman Maneef at around 70 years of age in the Syrian capital Damascus. Foremost among his works are Quintet of Salt City, which was published in 1984, in which he dealt with the history of the Arab Peninsula. The Saudi authorities revoked the Saudi citizenship from Maneef for his opposing position to the regime, which the latter labeled as "hostile " to it.
