1st of Ramadan 1364 AH/ August 9th 1945 AD: The U.S. bomber Bock's Car drops an atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan, destroying a third of the city and killing 40,000 people, according to U.S. estimates. Japan's government surrenders five days later.
